Locals of Kokech community in Kisumu county had not had close access to clean and safe water for about 3 weeks after the hand-pump became dysfunctional. Many of them would get water from contaminated sources such as rivers and the lake. However, Lifewater Canada funded the rehabilitation of the communal hand-pump, granting access to clean and safe water to about 500 people. |
