A message from the community

Kwer Mula Women Group is a group consisting of women drawn from Kamiera Village of Kochieng East location, Kochieng sub-location, Kadibo division, Kisumo Distruct of Nyanza Province. The group was formed to assist individual members in buying house furniture, utensils etc. as most of the members are widows who were left young when their husbands died due to HIV/AIDS scourge. The main source of water before we got our waterpoint through the implementing agency of GWAKO ministires from Lifewater Canada has been a seasonal liner covered completely with the water hycinth weed and roof catchment which depends on rain strictly. Before it dried up, the stream water is being used by women group members to grow rice in small scale, vegetables, tomatos arrowroots and bananas. A good percentage of the produce is consumed within the homes and very little is sold to bring in some income for the members. Even with all these our main problem has been safe drinking water with members at time taking up to a week without attending group meetings because they were attending to a sick child as a result of using unsafe drinking water. With our new waterpoint the group member participation will increase as the time used in attending sick children will now be directed to group activities. Our lives will change as group members and that will also be felt in our families as the little saving from not buying medicine can be used for other family needs. Thanks Lifewater Canada, Thanks GWAKO Ministries for a job well done, continue improving the lives of God's people. The good deeds will be rewarded finally in Heaven! God bless you all Grace Maina Group Secretary.
