Some community details (provided by our in-country partners) |
Lofa Community is one of Liberia’s 15 counties. It got its name from the first people who came Lofa and settled in that part of the Montserrado County. It is located along the Paynesville Mount Barclay Highway, predominantly inhabited by the Lorma tribe from Lofa County. This community is highly challenged because it is without almost every basic socials service -- no roads, no electricity, and no safe drinking water, toilets, etc. The only nearby source of drinking water has been a well and hand pump drilled back in 2016. When the pump broke two months ago, the people had to get their water from a nearby swamp or buy water or walk 30-45 minutes to where there is clean water. Lifewater's repair team visited and replaced the well pump's spoiled cylinder and rods. It was a great joy and relief for the people of Lofa community. Community leader Mr. Momo Jawoloh extends many thanks to Lifewater and its partners for restoring their hope and reducing their suffering for water.
