Some community details (provided by our in-country partners) |
Situated within the heart of nothern Grand Bassa County, Tabar Town Q#3 is a very big community with more of than 800 people residing there. Tabar Town Q#3's potable water coverage is very low. Since the well broke down, the great majority of the rural population is fetching their drinking water from unprotected sources (rivers, springs, ponds, rain water, and a few hand-dug wells). These water sources are not well-protected from wild and domestic animals or from human beings urine and feces. People also practice open defecation which accelerates the contamination of water sources. As a result, Tabar Community Q#3 urgently needed its hand pump repaired. Lifewater has completed that and the community is once again enjoying safe water from their well. Furthermore, the local population is thriving in their businesses and schools with no more extra time spent in search of water to meet their daily needs. Locals are also not having to spend precious money to purchase water that was only marginally safer than the river water. |
