A message from the community

Dear Sir/Madame, As a whole, everyone was extremely happy to see you come to our sector. We have suffered from a constant run of sickness and we know know it is because of the water that we have had to drink. You have brought us a new well and new ways to keep healthy. It is a wonder to us that at this time when everyone is fearful, you came and brought us ways to grow healthy and stay healthy. Thank you so much Alex Fulmbutbah Vice Chairman

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

Unlike traditional Kubono Shop Community, this part of the community is located at the outskirt of the entire Kubono township. According to oral historian of the town, Kubono Shop Community Quarter-5 has a very unique history. As stated by Mr. James Payne a resident of Kubono Shop Community Quarter-5: the community acquire its name from a flower farm that once grew in the community. Excitingly, many flower buyers came to the community to frequently purchased flowers during the flower bloom and Kubono was the name of the most sold flower at the time. Kubono Shop Community Quarter-5 is large with a huge women and children population. The community also lacks any source of safe drinking. The only source of any water supply is an open shadow dirty water supply. As a result, community members are compel to dink from a hand dug well. There are always frequent outbreak of diarrhea, dysentery and other water related diseases and in the past year an infant died. Finally, by the inception of Lifewater's Health and Hygiene Team: life saving awareness was carried out to inspire community dwellers to chlorinate their water and keep their environment safe. This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support!
