Dear Sir/Madame, As members of this community we band together to extend our heartfelt thanks and deep appreciation for your kindness in providing us a modern handpump. It has been a long overdue need that has been met and we are very grateful. Thank you. Our group attending the hygiene workshop was excited to share all their new knowlege with their family, friends and neighbours and all of us found the information timely in the face of this new health crisis that we are all facing. your timely presence made your lessons even more valuable and again we are all grateful for your excellent staff and hardworking drillers. Kindest regards Saiffa Massaguoi General Chairman |

G-4 Quarter-6 Community is the smallest community within the entire G-4 settlement that was extended as the result of the fast growth of the settlement. As a newly extended community, presently it has less population but a very pressing need for safe water, as there are only a few hand dug wells in the community. According to the Quarter Chief Mr. Massaquoi, the well water dries after every five to six buckets of water is draw out. It takes hours to recharge even that little amount. ‘‘We have to wait up between four to seven minutes after someone draws from the well because the water dries very fast’’. ‘‘This Quarter has the highest number of vulnerable people, majority of us are living on farming and other smaller contracts’’, he further added. Due to the lack of any school in the community, children of school going age are sent to the next Quarter either to live with family relatives or are force to face the risk to walk the long distance if they must have access to any form of western education. For those that can afford the high cost of sending their children frequently spoke of how many children got sick from walking through the rain during rainy days just to attend school. At first, many believe that COVID-19 does not exist in fact it is just a means for their government to eat donor funds. Eyes were opened during the Health and sanitation as it provided the necessary education the community needed. Finally, at the display of Lifewater drilling equipment, many residents gathered around watching with great relief that their long clean water worries are now a bed time story. Women spread their garments and dance at the pump dedication and shared their thanks and appreciation to Lifewater Liberia Inc. and partners. As residents of the community speak during the Health and Hygiene Corona awareness workshop it was clear that the community is ignorant of many things. This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support! |
