A message from the community

Dear Lifewater & Sponsor,

We the people of the community, want to extend thanks and appreciation for installing a hand pump for us. This well and the hygiene workshop will be changing our lives for the better, more than we could have imagined!

It is our hope that you will be able to continue this good work. May God bless you and continue to give you strength and direction.

Warm regards,

Siaffa Massaquoi, Chairman

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

G-4 Community Quarter#2 is located along one of Liberia's#39 busiest highways which leads to the western part of the country side outside of the city of Brewerville.

Agriculture and charcoal production are the main methods of their livelihood. This community has one school, a church, two mosques and a life saving clinic.

Most of the population here is women and children and 85% of them lack access to safe water, many have to travel long distances to get to water. In the past, young girls have been raped going for water in early morning before school or at dusk after school. For all girls, the time and energy spent hauling heavy water buckets twice a day means that they do not have the same chance as boys to do well in school.

Many lives will be saved because the people now have a new well, providing safe drinking water. And there will be a chance for all students, regardless of gender, to get the best education possible.

On February 28, 2020 a Health & Hygiene Workshop was held in this community with 28 in attendance. This was one of the first workshops to include teaching about COVID-19 such as what it is, how it is spread and how to break its disease transmission pathways. Members of the community were inspired to stay safe by washing their hands, and to always drink from the new well.

This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support!
