A message from the community

Dear Sir,

On behalf of all who will now enjoy safe water from this new well. We offer our thanks to those who have brought us such a wonder. It will have a profound impact on everyone and all rejoice knowing that many of our sicknesses will now be a thing of the past.

We really enjoyed the workshop that you offered to help us understand the reasons behind many of us getting sick.  We learned a lot and will be ready to pass the information on to our friends and families to help improve their health as well.

Please accept our gratitude and know our prayers lift you up to ask the Lord we serve to also bless you.

Sincerely

Joseph Wonah

Village Chief

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

Unlike Jones Town Quarter-2 is located at the entrance and is the face of the town.

The community of Jones Town Quarter-2 is considered as a historical place for many reasons. The founder of this community: Mr. David Jones who later delivered the land to the Liberian Red Cross to be used as a refuge center once worked the land and called the place his God-given home for the poor and needy.

According to oral historian of the Town, elder Boimah Kamara, the deceased Mr. Jones was the very first man to ever try and dig a well in the community now refered to as Jones' Town. Unfortunately, There is hard rock not too far down in the sand blocking deepening. Jones Town Quarter-2 does not have access to safe drinking water. The main source of inadequate drinking water is from a poorly treated open hand dug well that dries out during the dry season.

As such, women and children usually travel far distances to fetch water most times crossing dangerous highway roads. As a result, community dwellers complain of dysentery, diarrhea and cholera as the main cause of death within their community.

Graciously, Lifewater's Health and Hygiene Team was the very first people to ever conducted such an impactful workshop: training community dwellers the important means to avoid common diseases and most importantly, keep their water clean and safe as a means of preserving their lives.

This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support!
