Duazon community, Block A, is located along the Monrovia – Robert International airport high way about 30 minutes away from RIA, on the left hand side of the main road car road, this community is part of the Duazon main town, and is densely populated. And have a flat sandy land that is always flooded by the near sea water that over flood the water bands, thus contaminating the hand dug wells in the area. The main source of Livelihood of the these people is fishing and petty trade as there is no good soil for agricultural activities so they depends on center government for everything with respect to development. They lack basic social services like safe drinking water and health care, or clinic in this area. The major source of water for them is the open hand dug wells and rivers. As a result there is a continue out brake of diseases like running stomach, skin diseases and other water borne diseases. The Health and Hygiene Team made a difference by conducting a workshop that has taught the participants how to keep themselves free from sicknesses and maintain a clean environment.
This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support! |
