Kwaku II is a lively community within Kuje Area Council, FCT Abuja, where farming and petty trading sustain most households. Despite the community’s vibrant economic activities, access to safe water remained their biggest challenge. The borehole serving the community had stopped working after a prolonged use without maintenance, these forced residents to depend on open wells and small ponds that frequently dries up. The water was unsafe, and sickness became common. Children began to fall sick of cholera and typhoid, and parents spent much of their earnings on medicines. Then Lifewater arrived promptly to assist the community. The repair team carefully repaired the damaged borehole, and the first flow of safe water brought joy that words could not describe. Women and children dance and filled their buckets with ease. Today, safe reliable water flows once again in Kwaku II. The community has seen significant improvements in health and morning are made easier as they are no more long treks in search of water. The community warmly thanks Lifewater for restoring safe water and dignity to their lives.
