We the elders and the members of Wambai community, write to appreciate Lifewater organization for the well-being of repaired borehole for the people including the aged women and widows. We want to specially thank you for the borehole project gifted to the community in its town. Please accept the high regards from all of us. Yours faithfully, Suleiman Ibrahim
Wambai is a small farming community in Paikoro Local Government, Niger State. The people are known for cultivating yams, maize, and groundnuts, while the women engage in processing and selling shea butter. For several months, Wambai's biggest struggle was water. The community depended on a borehole that eventually broke down, leaving residents no option but to fetch water from open wells and streams several kilometers away. The water was dirty, often shared with livestock, and many households suffered from typhoid. Children frequently missed school to help their mothers fetch water, and daily chores took hours longer than they should. During our visit, we carried out repairs on the broken borehole. The repair brought immediate relief because safe water began flowing close to homes, significantly reducing illness and saving time for everyday tasks. Today, life in Wambai feels renewed. Families no longer wake before dawn to search for water. Safe water now sits just a few steps away, improving health, hygiene, and peace of mind. Farmers have more time for their fields, and children now attend school more regularly. The community expresses deep gratitude to Lifewater for restoring their water source, acknowledging that this has transformed their lives and turned their days of struggle into days of joy.
