Baidna is a close-knit farming community in Paikoro Local Government, Niger State, with about 1,300 residents known for their hard work and hospitality. For years, the community's only borehole was the primary source of safe water. However, when it broke down unexpectedly, residents were left to rely on nearby stagnant ponds. This lack of safe water led to frequent waterborne diseases, particularly affecting children, and forced women and girls to spend long hours fetching water from distant and unsafe sources. Water scarcity disrupted farming activities and made daily life more challenging. When Lifewater came to Baidna, hope was restored. The team examined the broken borehole and replaced damaged parts. The repair brought immediate relief to every household. Children now go to school regularly instead of helping to search for water from distant and unsafe sources, and the waterborne illnesses that once troubled the community have almost disappeared. The people of Baidna are deeply grateful to Lifewater for their prompt and impactful support.
