Bugako is a rural community in Kuje Area Council, FCT Abuja, with about 1,400 residents who mainly engage in farming while some engage in petty trading at the nearby Kuje market. For a long time, water was the community's greatest challenge. The community's only borehole had broken down over a year ago, forcing families to rely on a nearby river shared with animals. The water often turned brown after rainfall, and many families began to suffer from typhoid and other waterborne diseases, making daily chores, especially for women and children, exhausting and time-consuming. When Lifewater arrived in Bugako, the community gathered with great hope. The team repaired the pump, and before long, safe water began to flow again while the air was filled with laughter and songs of joy. This intervention transformed life in Bugako as families now have safe water to drink and use. Today, Bugako is renewed. Safe water is now just steps away from homes, sickness has reduced, and life has become easier for everyone. The people of Bugako are deeply thankful to Lifewater for this blessing that has brought them comfort, better health and productivity.
