Kwaku is a lively farming community in Kuje Area Council, FCT Abuja, with about 1,500 residents who rely on farming and small-scale trading to sustain their livelihoods. For months, the community borehole was out of use. Without access to safe water, residents, especially girls and children, were forced to trek long distances to collect water from unsafe streams and ponds, exposing them to waterborne illnesses and exhaustion. The lack of clean water disrupted daily life, leading to frequent sickness among children and reduced productivity for farmers who struggled to irrigate their crops. After Lifewater intervened by sending a skilled team to repair the borehole and ensure a reliable and sustainable water supply, Kwaku has experienced a remarkable transformation. Safe water now flows steadily in the community, improving health outcomes and allowing children to attend school regularly. Women have more time to engage in farming and small businesses, boosting the community's economy. The people of Kwaku express heartfelt gratitude to Lifewater for their timely support, which has restored safe water in the community.
