I, Muhammed Sadiq, write to Lifewater organization on behalf of Dama community to thank you for your gesture in the rehabilitation of our borehole. The people of Dama have been struggling to access clean water. They travel long distances from the community to fetch water. Meanwhile, the well we have is not yielding enough water and its get dry during the season. However, the people of Dama community is no longer going through this suffering anymore. God bless you greatly. Yours faithfully, Muhammed Sadiq 08027072159

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

Dama community is a farming community in Bosso Local Government Area of Niger State. Known for its peaceful farming families and quiet surroundings, Dama faced a growing crisis, no access to clean water. the only borehole in the village had stopped working. t didn’t happen all at once, the pump grew weaker, the handle became harder to pull until one day, the water stopped flowing. With no mony to fix it, residents turned to a stagnant pond filled with animal waste. The water is brown and always smells. girls walked long distances to fetch water from neighbouring villages. It was exhausting and dangerous. Children fell ill often. Typhoid and diarrhea became common. Families spent more on medicine than they could afford, and mothers became burdened of taking care of their sick children. Lifewater’s arrival marked the turning point. Their team rehabilitated the borehole and gave the community a fresh start. Today, Dama is different, not with the worry of where to find safe water. Children are healthier and drink without fear and mothers are relieved and have more time for their families. Thanks to the generous support of Lifewater, Dama now has safe water and have moved from struggle to abundance.
