Greetings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. On behalf of Kuchi church community, I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the toilet you built in our church premises. The toilets will greatly enhance the comfort and hygiene of our members, especially during events and services. All thanks to you and remain blessed in the name of Jesus (amen). Yours faithfully, 07055825943
Kuchi, a peaceful rural community in the Ebbo District of Lapai Local Government Area, Niger State, relies on farming, petty trade, and fishing for its families' livelihoods. For years, however, a silent struggle affected everyone: the lack of proper sanitation. Kuchi had no public toilet facility, forcing households to resort to open defecation in nearby bushes. During rainy seasons, human waste washed into the stream, contaminating water sources and causing frequent outbreaks of diarrhea and cholera. Women and girls suffered the most. Many waited until nightfall to relieve themselves, risking snake bites. The local health center struggled to manage the surge in cases. Schoolchildren, especially girls, often missed classes, particularly during their periods, due to the absence of safe toilets at home and school. When Lifewater visited Kuchi and recognized this dire need, we took immediate action. Our team constructed safe and easy-to-clean toilets for the community. Residents received training on proper sanitation and hygiene practices to ensure long-term use. Today, life in Kuchi is changing for the better. Families now use the new toilets with dignity and confidence, children attend school regularly, and girls feel safer and more included.
