Maje V is a rural and agrarian community in Northern Suleja close to Abuja, Nigeria capital City. The community endured months of severe hardship due to a devastating water challenge. Their borehole had broken down, forcing residents to rely on a distant stream. The journey to this stream was a treacherous one, taking an hour to walk along slippery paths. This often led to painful accidents, with many children dislocating legs or hands while carrying heavy water containers. To make matters worse, sometimes, after the long and dangerous trek, they would arrive only to find the stream had dried up. The demand for scarce water at the stream often ignited constant quarrels and fights, causing immense chaos and fracturing relationships within the community. Lifewater heard their painful story and was deeply moved. We intervened by rehabilitating their broken hand pump. Today, that grim narrative of scarcity has been transformed. The community now has safe water close to their homes, and with it, peace has been restored. Everyone can now access clean water, healing the rifts caused by previous struggles. Lifewater has not only repaired a broken borehole but has also mended the broken and fractured relationships within Maje V. The residents are profoundly grateful for the immense support and kind efforts of the donors, praying that God continues to supply their needs so they can keep making such a vital difference.
