Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

The Maje IV community, located in Northern Suleja, Niger State, near Nigeria's capital, Abuja, was grappling with a deepening water crisis. Since their borehole broke down, the community had been forced to rely on distant water sources, creating immense hardship. Girls, in particular, bore the brunt of this challenge. They would wake before dawn to embark on long treks to the stream, often not returning until late morning. This arduous journey meant frequently missing school or arriving too late to meaningfully participate in lessons. While the community did have a hand-dug well, its water was unclean and quickly depleted as residents took turns to fetch. This scarcity fueled constant quarrels and fights over water, further fracturing community harmony. Children's health suffered visibly, with outbreaks of skin rashes and other waterborne diseases. Recognizing their urgent need, Lifewater intervened by rehabilitating Maje IV's broken hand pump. Today, the community once again has access to safe water, and with it, a profound sense of peace, unity, and restored interpersonal relationships. Young girls can now sleep better, knowing their mornings won't be consumed by long, dangerous walks for water. Crucially, the children are healthier, free from the constant threat of waterborne illnesses. The Maje IV community expresses deep gratitude for Lifewater's kindness and support, praying that divine provision continues to empower Lifewater to carry out its vital work.
