A message from the community

I, Usman Yusuf wish to thank Lifewater Nigeria for their kind gesture for the rehabilitation of long time damaged borehole in Pmawo community, Pyata Bosso Local Government Area in Niger State. Our people can now enjoy portable water. We have been drinking dirty water with animals which causes health challenges to our children, adults are not exempted. However, we sincerely appreciate your kindness and God will reward you for the good work. Yours faithfully, Usman Yusuf

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

The Pmawo community is located in Pyata, Bosso Local Government of Niger State. The community is a predominantly agrarian area that faced a severe crisis: a lack of access to safe water. For nearly two years, their sole borehole had been out of commission. What began with strange noises eventually led to a complete breakdown, leaving the community without its vital water source. Unable to afford the significant repair costs, the residents were forced to rely on a nearby pond—a hazardous mix of rainwater, dirt, and animal waste—or trek long distances to a neighboring community for water. This dire situation had severe consequences. Typhoid outbreaks became a recurring nightmare, affecting many residents. The most vulnerable, the children, were constantly sick and weakened due to their dependence on these unsafe water sources. Lifewater intervened, bringing a much-needed solution and restoring the community's hope and health. By rehabilitating the broken borehole, Lifewater transformed Pmawo's predicament. Today, the joy and gratitude in Pmawo are palpable. Both young and old now have access to clean, safe drinking water once again. This renewed access has led directly to improved health for the children and the entire community. Wasila Bawa, a resident, perfectly encapsulated the community's feelings: "You made us feel like humans again and we felt remembered by the good work. What you did here for us today will live for generations." Thanks to the generous support of our donors, the Pmawo community is now thriving with improved health and a rekindled sense of hope.
