Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

The Tawali Gwada Community faced immense hardship when their essential borehole broke down, plunging them into severe water scarcity. This daily struggle impacted every facet of their lives, from their children's education to the health and finances of every family. "My name is Wasila Bawa from Tawali Gwada Community," she begins, her voice conveying profound gratitude. "I want to sincerely thank Lifewater for coming to our aid and fixing our broken borehole. It means so much to all of us." Wasila vividly recounts their past challenges: "We have been facing severe challenges since the borehole stopped working. We had to walk long distances to get water each day. Our children hardly go to school because they have to go in search of water before anything else. Buying of water cost us a lot and not everyone could afford the luxury of buying it. Life was not easy." This paints a stark picture of a community where education was sacrificed for water, and even basic access came at a prohibitive cost. The desperation led them to unsafe practices: "We knew the water we fetch from the river was not safe, but we had no option. We fetched it to cook and drink, and many of us got sick often. It was especially hard on our old people and young children." However, a profound transformation arrived with the intervention of Lifewater. "But since the borehole started working again, everything has changed," Wasila shares with immense relief. The successful repair of their vital water source has brought immediate and widespread relief. The impact is deeply felt throughout Tawali Gwada. "The water is clean, it tastes fresh, and it is right here close to us. We are no longer afraid of sickness, and we now have more time to rest and focus on other things." The consistent availability of clean, safe water has eliminated the fear of illness, dramatically improved public health, and freed up invaluable time for rest and other productive activities. The community, once burdened by hardship, now experiences a newfound sense of ease and well-being. "We are so excited and lack the right words to say to the organization, thank you for looking our direction and finding us worthy of your help. May blessings follow you everywhere you go, and may God protect you all always," Wasila concludes, her heartfelt words reflecting the deep appreciation of the entire Tawali Gwada Community. The story of Tawali Gwada is a powerful testament to how restoring access to clean water can alleviate immense suffering, improve health, and bring invaluable time, peace, and hope to a community that had long endured hardship.
