Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

For generations, the Dako community in the Dako area of Gwagwalada had endured a life defined by the relentless struggle for water. The daily reality was one of arduous journeys, physical strain, and the constant compromise of health and hygiene due to the reliance on unsafe sources. A long-time resident of the Dako community poignantly recounts their experience: "I have lived in this Dako community for years, and I can tell you we have suffered for water all our lives. My children used to walk two miles daily to fetch water, carrying heavy jugs that strained their young backs and hinder their smooth growth. Some days, the water they brought get so dirty because cattle’s mighty have gone inside the water to drink, but we had no choice but to drink it." These words paint a vivid picture of the immense physical burden placed on the community's children, their young bodies strained by the weight of water jugs over long distances. The contamination of their only water source by animals further underscores the desperate circumstances and the constant threat to their health. This daily struggle was not just an inconvenience; it was a fundamental impediment to their well-being and development. However, the arrival of Lifewater brought a moment of profound and lasting change, a liberation from a lifelong burden. "The day Lifewater came and drill us a new well will never be forgotten because it means everything to our existence," the resident exclaims with deep emotion. The provision of a clean, accessible water source marked a turning point that would redefine their daily lives. The immediate impact was transformative. "For the first time, we filled a bucket with clear clean water without sending children walking far from home to get water," they share, highlighting the simple yet profound joy of accessing clean water with ease. The relief of no longer having to send their children on long and arduous journeys was immense. The benefits extended to all aspects of their lives. "We can now bath our children, cooked freely, and drink without fear," the resident explains. The availability of clean water has restored basic hygiene, improved food preparation, and eliminated the constant anxiety associated with consuming contaminated water. "Clean water has changed our lives; we are no longer burdened but blessed." The community's gratitude for this life-changing gift is immense. "Thank you Lifewater for bring this huge blessing and gift to our community. May God reward all your good deeds and efforts towards humanity," the resident concludes, their words echoing the collective appreciation of the entire Dako community. Lifewater's intervention has not only provided water but has lifted a lifelong burden, bringing health, ease, and a profound sense of blessing to a community that had long endured the hardship of water scarcity.
