Located within the Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, the community of Zango endured nearly a year without a reliable source of clean water following the breakdown of their borehole. This prolonged lack of access forced residents to rely on distant streams and unsafe hand-dug wells, placing a significant burden on women and children and leading to widespread health issues. As Ali Mohammed, a resident of Zango, recounts with immense relief and gratitude: "My name is Ali Mohammed. The borehole, once a reliable source of clean water in Zango, had been broken for nearly a year now. We were left to rely on far-off streams and hand-dug wells, which were not only inconvenient but also unsafe. The burden of fetching water fell heavily on the women and children, who spent hours each day walking long distances with heavy containers. Health issues like typhoid and cholera became rampant due to the consumption of contaminated water. Then came Lifewater, bringing hope and change. Their team of skilled workers immediately took charge, and the borehole working again. With the borehole repaired, clean water began to flow again. For the residents of Zango, it was nothing short of a miracle. Now we have water right here in the heart of our community, our children are healthier, and we no longer have to walk for hours. Lifewater has changed our lives for the better."
