Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

Within the Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Gitata Primary School faced a significant challenge when its borehole, a crucial source of clean water, went out of service for months. This lack of access to safe water threatened the health and well-being of both students and staff, impacting their education and daily routines. As Justice Andrew, a teacher at Gitata Primary School, recounts with deep gratitude: "My name is Justice Andrew, a teacher here in Gitata Primary School; the school faced a significant challenge that threatened the well-being of its students and staff for months; the borehole, once a reliable source of clean water, had been out of service. The consequences were dire. Without access to clean water, students were forced to bring water from home or rely on a nearby stream. The stream, though accessible, was far from safe. It was a breeding ground for waterborne diseases, and the journey to fetch water often disrupted the students' focus on their studies. Teachers, too, struggled to maintain hygiene and sanitation in the school, as there was no water for cleaning or handwashing. Every day, the students had to wake up early to fetch water from the stream before coming to school. Sometimes, making them late to school. This often would make them feel too tired to concentrate in class." The absence of a functional borehole had created a multitude of problems for Gitata Primary School, affecting students' health, punctuality, and ability to concentrate, while also hindering hygiene and sanitation within the school environment. However, Lifewater's intervention brought a profound and immediate change. By assessing the situation and swiftly repairing the borehole, Lifewater not only restored access to clean water but also ensured the school's long-term water security. "The organization, known for its commitment to providing clean water to underserved communities, stepped in to assess the situation. Their team of experts quickly identified the issues with the borehole and began the repair process. Lifewater not only fixed the borehole but also ensured that it was equipped to serve the school for years to come. The impact of the repair was immediate and profound. Students no longer had to fetch water from unsafe sources, and their health improved significantly. The school environment became cleaner and more conducive to learning. We are deeply grateful for their support." For Gitata Primary School, Lifewater's support has been transformative, creating a healthier, safer, and more conducive learning environment for both students and staff.
