Nestled within the Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, the community of Gwagwa Sarki endured months of significant challenges in accessing clean water due to their community borehole being out of service. This lack of a reliable water source led to daily struggles and increased health risks, particularly for the children. As Mai Kasuwa, a resident of Gwagwa Sarki, recounts with sincere appreciation: "My name is Mai Kasuwa from Gwagwa Sarki. I wish to express my sincere appreciation to Lifewater for the relief and their efforts of coming to give us clean water. The community's borehole had been out of service for months, causing significant challenges in accessing clean water. We faced daily struggles, including health risks from contaminated water sources. Our children fall victims of waterborne disease mostly. The growth of the community has been badly affected due to the challenges that come with lack of water." The prolonged absence of a functioning borehole had a detrimental impact on the health and overall development of Gwagwa Sarki, with children being particularly vulnerable to waterborne diseases. The daily struggle for water hindered the community's progress and well-being. However, Lifewater's intervention brought much-needed relief and a renewed sense of hope to Gwagwa Sarki. By repairing the spoiled borehole, Lifewater provided access to clean water, directly addressing the health risks and alleviating the burden on the women and children who were primarily responsible for water collection. "Lifewater repair of the spoiled borehole brought much-needed relief to our children and women that the responsibility of getting water lays on them.
