Located in the Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, the community of Yelwa Maitaba endured a significant hardship following the breakdown of their borehole. This vital water source's failure led to a desperate situation where residents, particularly women and children, were forced to undertake long and arduous journeys to another village in search of water, often creating conflict and hardship. As Danjuma Akawu, a resident of Yelwa Maitaba, recounts with profound gratitude: "My name is Danjuma Akawu. To be honest, we are truly grateful for the repair that Lifewater has brought to our community. Since the borehole broke down, we have been struggling to get water. We have made several attempts to fix the borehole, but to no avail. Our wives and children travel many kilometers to get water from another village; this often leads to conflicts between the two communities. Buying water is only meant for the privileged ones because not everyone in the community can afford to buy water because of its high cost." The breakdown of their borehole had created a cycle of struggle, with long journeys for water leading to inter-community tensions and the high cost of purchased water placing a significant burden on the less privileged members of Yelwa Maitaba. The community was in dire need of a sustainable solution. The arrival of Lifewater brought an end to their long-standing hardship. By repairing their broken borehole, Lifewater provided Yelwa Maitaba with a readily accessible source of clean water, alleviating the burden on women and children and fostering peace within the region. "We are extremely happy and want to express our sincere gratitude to Lifewater for coming to save us. May God bless you all, and thank you for the good work," Danjuma Akawu expresses with immense relief and appreciation. For Yelwa Maitaba, Lifewater's intervention was a true act of salvation, bringing peace, relief, and a renewed sense of well-being to the entire community.
