Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

Nestled within the Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, the community of Gburu Mayo endured a daily struggle for water, relying on a dirty, germ-filled stream located far from their homes. This arduous journey placed a significant burden on the women, who sacrificed sleep and faced potential dangers in their quest for water. As Danladi Rabo, a resident of Gburu Mayo, recounts with profound gratitude: "My name is Danladi Rabo from Gburu Mayo community. I express my gratitude to the management of Lifewater and its team for their invaluable assistance to our community. We make use of water from the stream, which is dirty and full of unseen germs. Our ladies sleep late each night and wake up early, all because they have to go in search of water from a very distant stream." The long and perilous journeys for water not only exhausted the women but also exposed them to significant risks, including potential attacks and encounters with dangerous wildlife. The lack of a nearby clean water source cast a shadow of fear and hardship over the community. However, the repair of their damaged borehole by Lifewater brought a transformative change to Gburu Mayo. Access to clean, safe water is now readily available, ending the arduous treks and the associated risks. "With the repair of the damaged borehole, we would be able to access clean, safe water without having to go into the stream anymore. We now have enough and excess water, all thanks to Lifewater," Danladi Rabo joyfully states. "The risk of our wives and children being raped or beaten by snakes while going in search of water at odd hours will no longer occur. Thank you so much for coming to our assistance. God bless and reward the organization abundantly." For Gburu Mayo, Lifewater's intervention has not only provided a vital resource but has also brought safety, security, and a renewed sense of well-being to the entire community.
