Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

Nestled within the Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, the community of Marke faced a significant hardship when their community borehole broke down, creating a major challenge in accessing portable drinking water. This breakdown particularly impacted the women, who were forced to undertake long journeys to a distant river to fetch water. As Francis, a resident of Marke, recounts with heartfelt gratitude: "My name is Francis, I want to thank Lifewater for sending help to our community and getting our borehole repaired. After the borehole went bad, our women started going to a far river to get water; portable drinking water became a big challenge for us to have access to." The arduous journeys undertaken by the women not only consumed their time and energy but also highlighted the community's vulnerability due to the lack of a readily available source of clean water. The scarcity of portable drinking water posed a significant threat to the health and well-being of everyone in Marke. However, the timely intervention of Lifewater brought immense relief and joy to the community. By repairing the once spoiled community borehole, Lifewater restored access to a vital resource, alleviating the burden on the women and ensuring a sustainable supply of clean water for all. "We are so happy and full of gratitude for this awesome and wonderful work carried out by the organization on the once spoiled community borehole. With the help of Lifewater, we now have enough water to drink and make use of. Our ladies no longer walk far kilometres in search of water anymore. Thank you all so much for taking our pains away," Francis expresses with profound appreciation. For Marke, Lifewater's wonderful work has not only provided a basic necessity but has also brought immense relief, saved the women from arduous journeys, and restored a sense of well-being and security to the entire community.
