We the members of Gashe community want to sincerely show our appreciation to this organization Lifewater to have come to rehabilitate our borehole and giving us life which is water. May God reward you abundantly (amen). Yours faithfully, Ibrahim Salihu 08148663571
Gashe, a community within the Gbako Local Government Area of Niger State, Nigeria, is situated in a region with a rich cultural heritage, historically influenced by the Nupe people and other diverse groups that have shaped Niger State. Like many rural communities in the area, Gashe has faced significant challenges in accessing basic infrastructure, particularly a reliable supply of clean and safe water. Historically, residents often depended on traditional water sources, which can be vulnerable to contamination and failure, leading to hardship and displacement. For Ilya Ibrahim and the residents of Gashe Village, the lack of a functional well had created a severe water crisis that threatened the very fabric of their community. As Ilya recounts with stark clarity: "I am Ilya Ibrahim Gashe Village. We have been facing sever challenges of water shortage in our community for a long time. Our well was abandoned for years after it became contaminated and damaged, life grew increasingly difficult for us. Women and children had to travel long distances to collect water from a muddy pond, often returning home exhausted with water that was barely fit for consumption. Many of us fell ill, and some families even relocated in search of better conditions." The intervention of Lifewater brought a lifeline to Gashe Village, pulling us back from the brink. "Lifewater rehabilitation of our damaged borehole brought us back from the brink of despair. Clean water now flows freely, and the transformation has been incredible. Mothers have more time to care for our families and engage in productive activities, children are thriving in school, and our entire village feels like it has been reborn." The rehabilitation of the damaged borehole has had a profound and multifaceted effect. The readily available clean water has eradicated the need for dangerous journeys to the muddy pond, freeing up the time and energy of women, allowing them to focus on their families and livelihoods. Children, no longer burdened by the task of water collection and the threat of waterborne diseases, are now able to thrive in school. The entire village has experienced a resurgence, with a renewed sense of hope and well-being. "Lifewater kindness will remain in our hearts forever. Thank you and God bless the organization."
