We the entire members of Shaga Central Mosque community, wish to thank this noble organization for the assistance rendered to us in rehabilitating our borehole. Thank you for accepting our request. Yours faithfully, Hamza Yakubu 09150837500
Shaga, a community in the Gbako Local Government Area of Niger State, Nigeria, is situated within a region rich in cultural heritage, historically influenced by the Nupe Kingdom and other diverse groups that have shaped Niger State. The central mosque often serves as a vital hub for both religious and communal life in such communities. However, like many areas in Niger State, access to reliable and clean water sources can be a significant challenge, impacting daily routines and religious practices. For Isa Ishaka, a respected community elder at Shaga Central Mosque, the lack of adequate water had become a persistent concern, particularly affecting the spiritual life of the community. As Elder Ishaka recounts with gratitude: "My name Isa Ishaka, a community elder in Shaga Central Mosque. For years, our mosque struggled to meet the water needs of worshippers. During the holy month of Ramadan, the lack of water made it difficult to prepare for prayers and community meals. People were often forced to use polluted sources, leading to outbreaks of waterborne diseases." Elder Ishaka's words highlight the significant impact of water scarcity on the mosque's ability to serve its congregation, especially during important religious observances like Ramadan. The reliance on polluted water sources not only created practical difficulties but also posed serious health risks to the worshippers. The intervention of Lifewater brought a transformative solution, directly addressing a critical need within the community. Elder Ishaka describes the positive change with heartfelt appreciation: "When Lifewater stepped in to fix the dilapidated borehole at the mosque, it transformed our lives. The borehole not only meets the mosque's water needs but also supplies clean water to nearby households. Worshippers now perform their ablutions with ease, and our Ramadan gatherings are more joyful and hygienic. This clean water has strengthened both our faith and our community bonds." The rehabilitation of the borehole at Shaga Central Mosque has had a profound and far-reaching impact. It has not only ensured a reliable supply of clean water for religious practices, making worship easier and more hygienic, but has also extended this vital resource to the surrounding households. This access to clean water has improved public health and fostered a stronger sense of unity and well-being within the community, particularly during significant religious periods. Elder Ishaka concludes with deep gratitude: "Thank you so much Lifewater for act of service to humanity." This story from Shaga Central Mosque underscores the powerful connection between access to clean water, religious life, and community cohesion.
