A message from the community |
We extend our appreciation to the repair team of Lifewater for coming to our rescue by providing us with safe drinking water. May God bless the team and sponsors of the organization. -- Daniel S. Tarr Jr., Community Leader |
Some community details (provided by our in-country partners) |
Lifewater drilled a well in Nyah Town in Charlesville Township in 2015 that provided the community with safe drinking water for the first time. Unfortunately, two weeks ago, the well's hand pump failed and residents had to revert back to their old water sources including open hand-dug wells and creeks. Because these sources are contaminated, people began contracting waterborne illnesses including typhoid, diarrhea, stomach aches, and skin rashes. Women and children also had to walk long distances to gather this tainted water -- requiring time mothers needed to care for their families and time children needed to remain in school. But thanks to our donors, Lifewater's repair team visited the community recently and repaired the hand pump. This left residents joyful to have safe drinking water again.
