A message from the community |
We are very grateful and happy today because you have provided water to our community. Before, we were struggling for water but now, with your help, we are drinking healthy water. That is why we wish to show our appreciation to you. May God keep this love that you have shown to our community. We thank you once again. May God keep protecting you. -- Community Leaders |
Some community details (provided by our in-country partners) |
This is one of several communities in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory that had wells but the hand pumps on them were not properly maintained. They had broken down. This created long lines of people waiting to fetch water for the wells still functioning. Those who could not bear the wait resorted to open hand-dug wells that were often contaminated. Lifewater repaired the hand pumps on wells in several communities, including this one. Our intervention meant there were more wells to meet everyone’s water needs. People didn’t need to drink from contaminated sources, which has scaled down the incidences of waterborne infections. We are grateful to God for the opportunity to serve these communities, which expressed their deep gratitude to everyone whose sacrifice made this happen. |
