We Train and Equip Local Workers

Periodically, skilled professionals from North America travel overseas to train local workers.  These volunteer trainers use their vacation time and pay the costs of their overseas travel.

Training includes classroom work and theory on a variety of topics such as: hydrogeology, business planning, disease transmission/prevention, and equipment maintenance.

A key teaching resource is Lifewater Canada's Well Drilling Manual.

Much time is spent one-on-one providing practical, hands-on experience in the field. This includes training for:

              • Hand pump repair
              • Drilling training (such as learning when to stop drilling, how to handle unexpected problems, drill bit selection, how to properly manage drilling fluid, well development, etc.)
              • Water quality testing
              • Caretaker and Pump Repair Technician training
              • Community Health and Hygiene
