Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

The community well Swaggar Island Block C is the only source of clean water in the area. So when the hand pump on the well broke down for over a month, residents had no option than to go back to their old, open hand-dug well, which is prone to contamination and exposing children and adults to various illnesses.

Women and children suffered the most because they also had to wake up early in the morning to walk long distances in search of water for domestic use. As a result, children would report to school late after fulfilling this daily chore.

Now that Lifewater has stepped in and repaired the pump, the community is relieved to have their precious source of safe drinking water restored. They are grateful to Lifewater and our donors for coming to their aid and alleviating their suffering.

Every $1 you give provides a child with safe water for a year!
