A message from the community

We write to thank Lifewater for repairing our hand pump. May God bless Lifewater and its sponsors for restoring our well.

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

After prolonged use by many people in the community, the hand-powered pump on the water well in Swaggar Island Block D finally broke down and couldn't be used for at least a month. During that time, residents couldn't draw water from the well, so women and children would wake up in the morning and walk long distances in search of safe water -- a daunting task especially during the dry season.

The only alternatives were open hand-dug wells. The water from these wells is often contaminated, which puts people at risk of contracting waterborne diseases.

After the Lifewater repair team visited the area and fixed the pump, water is once again flowing from the community well. Residents are relieved to have their old source of safe water restored. They thanked Lifewater and our donors for coming to their aid and restoring their well.

Every $1 you give provides a child with safe water for a year!
