When the hand pump on their community well broke down for over a month, the residents of Schiefflin Town had no option than to go back to their old, open hand-dug well, which is prone to contamination and therefore exposure to various illnesses. Women and children also had to wake up in the wee hours of the morning to walk long distances in search of other water. As a result, most of the children would report to school late after fulfilling this daily chore.

Now that Lifewater has stepped in and repaired the pump, thanks to our donors, the community is relieved to have their precious source of clean, safe drinking water restored. They are grateful to Lifewater and our donors for coming to their aid and alleviating their suffering.
