A message from the community |
We the dwellers of Sand Beach Quarter 2 write to extend our thanks and appreciation to the Lifewater team for repairing and chlorinating our hand pump. We have been in great need of safe drinking water for some time now. Thank you very much. May God bless you. -- Mabu Kaykay, Community Leader |
Some community details (provided by our in-country partners) |
When the hand-powered pumps on the deep and protectively sealed wells in this community in the Marshall area failed recently, residents began gathering water from open hand-dug wells. This water is often contaminated, so the children and adults drinking it risked contracting diarrheal diseases. Those who could afford it would buy bags of water from expensive local vendors. But thanks to our donors, Lifewater's repair team arrived in Sand Beach recently and repaired the pumps (including this one) so safe water is readily available again to every child and adult. Community leaders offered many thanks to Lifewater for restoring their hope. |
