A message from the community |
We the citizens of New Life Community A&B Q1 extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to your organization for repairing our hand pump. We appreciate your good work. We are glad our women and children no longer have to go back to open wells, drinking contaminated water, or spend money on vendor water. May almighty God give you long life and blessings. -- Finda Tamba, Community Leader |
Some community details (provided by our in-country partners) |
When the hand-powered pumps on their two community wells failed recently, residents of Life Community Block A&B in Lower Margibi County no longer had easy access to safe water. They reverted to old water sources such as creeks and hand-dug wells. These contaminated sources resulted in several people in the community -- mostly children -- contracting typhoid and other waterborne diseases. Meanwhile, the time needed to walk to and from the creeks and hand-dug wells kept women from caring for their families and children from being in school. But thanks to Lifewater donors, only a few days after the second pump's breakdown, our repair team arrived and repaired both pumps (including this one) and conducted a cleansing chlorination process on each well. Safe water is readily available to everyone again, much to the excitement and relief of the residents. They are grateful to Lifewater and our donors for restoring their safe water sources. |
