Driving in the town, signs of poverty are visible in all shapes and forms. As a result, many locals could not afford safe drinking water when their pump failed. In fact, the lack of safe drinking water in the town presented many challenges. Since there were not a single alternative safe drinking water source anywhere around the town, every morning and afternoon, women and children left their homes to go to nearby communities to fetch water from the only functional hand-dug well.

However, thanks to Lifewater's repair of the local hand pump, the results has have far-reaching -- limiting the high spread of water bone diseases and alleviating the high medical burden imposed on community dwellers.

Additionally, the intervention also curbed the mortality rate and the negative impact on the locals ability to work due to poor health. Children are also returning to schools while their parents are saving the purchase of water.
