Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

Dark Forest Quarter#4 sits is at the center of the city of Bucnanan where major economic activities take place. The biggest lake of the county, Lake Tana, is in this region. Dark Forest Community Quarter#4 is gifted with huge amount of surface and ground water resources. However, when the pump on their well spoiled, due to the fact that the community had no alternative safe drinking water source, the entire community return to their old hand-dug well as means to access water.

As a result, the frequent outbreak of waterborne diseases was a new normal in the community. Meanwhile, because existing gender roles subscribe fetching water to that of girls and women, they were missing out on their schools and businesses. According to locals, they spent on average an amount of $2.50 a week to purchase water.

Through the intervention of Lifewater and its sponsor, the community now enjoys safe drinking water through a repaired hand pump.

Every $1 you give provides a child with safe water for a year!
