A message from the community

Dear Sir,

We the members of Dolo Town #2 all gather together to send our thanks to everyone who came to help us get our hand pump working again. It was down for over a year and we suffered.

It is a wonderful good work that you have done for us and we are grateful to you and pray for the good Lord to bless you and keep you safe.

Sincerely

Deborah Saye

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

Dolo’s Town Community Q#2 has drawn dwellers from many surrounding communities and has a population of about 925 people. Their pump was down for well over a year!

The lack of access to quality safe drinking water due to a spoiled hand pump had weakened the community and exposed it to several waterborne diseases because the only option locals had was to return to their old source of drinking water. Infected with germs and bacteria, the old hand-dug well caused frequent outbreaks of diarrhea and running stomach.

With present times increasing the rate of poverty among locals, this added increase in medical bills caused much hardship among many families.

However, thanks to Lifewater, the pump has been repaired and the well restored.

Many locals stated that they are very happy to go back to using this pump. It was a great relief to everyone to once again have access to safe drinking water that will stay with them for a long period of time. The main sense of happiness came from the fact that the safe drinking water will also stop the frequent outbreak of waterborne diseases in the community.

"This well, because it is near us, will give our children lots of time to go to school (rather than missing class while needing to fetch far-away water)," a villager said, when she saw water pumping from the well again.

Every $1 you give provides a child with safe water for a year!
