Dear Sponsor & Lifewater,

We write to extend our warmest compliments to the founder and project coordinator of Lifewater Liberia for the meaningful blessing to the people of Dartu-ta community and the whole county of Margibi.

You have solved the most serious problem our communities have faced some years ago. We in recent time observed that our children were contracting various diseases such as diarrhea, cholera and shigellosis from drinking unsafe water from creeks and streams.

We highly appreciate your effort and do ask God to continue blessing as you continue to do more for our beloved country Liberia.

Best regards,

Bennie D. Wesee, Community Secretary

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

Dartu-ta town is located within the Margibi County, overlooking the Rennie Hospital and across from the Booker Washington Institute Rubber Plantation.

According to the historians, Dartu-ta Town was established in the early 18th century by a man named Yargbawolo Gblon. There was a great war between the Bassa tribe and the Kpelle tribe for this farming land. With the help of a young warrior by the name of Peter Dartu from the Kpelle tribe, they became victorious over the Bassa tribe during the land dispute, and the town was named after the warrior Peter Dartu.

Today, the town has a growing population of approximately 1700 people both of Christian and Muslim faiths.

This community had a lack of safe drinking water and many people complaining of running stomach and diarrhea from drinking unsafe water from open dug wells. Now safe water flows from a new hand pump installed for the people of Dartu-ta Town. Thank-you for making this happen!

On December 23, 2019 a Health & Hygiene workshop was conducted for this town with 30 participants. This helped us learn how disease is transmitted, how to stop this from happening, and what to do if one of our children does get running stomach. We are now equipped to keep everyone healthy!

This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support!
