A message from the community

Dear Sir,

As a community we are very happy for the great humitarian work that has been granted to us in the form of this new handpump and Health & Hygiene Workshop.  Together we are very blessed and our lives improved by these developments and we hope that your work will prosper and touch many other villages with such good work.

Please accept our thanks

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

Government farm Quarter 4 is located at the back of Government Farm close to the swamp. This is an extended part of the Farm. It also shares common boundary with Florida Community another part of Government Farm. There is a little creek that separates this part of government from the rest of area called Government and creek is the major source of water for their domestic uses. Quarter 4 has a population of about 600+ with mostly women and children.

The lack of safe drinking water has caused the locals not only health problems but even economic burden, as they have to pay over $100 USD per household to buy plastic bag water, thus posing additional financial burden on families amidst the struggling economic in the country.

Based on the lack of hygiene knowledge, the inhabitants of Quarter 4 did not practice any basic method in keeping their Community safe from sicknesses, until the Lifewater Health and Hygiene Team conducted to teach the people about poor health and what can be done to avoid it in bringing that condition to a halt.

A Workshop was conducted by the Team, teaching the participants of the importance of the basic hygiene practices that will keep them safe from diseases. They were trained about the purification of water and what to do in terms of hands cleaning by washing them before meal and after using the toilet. The participants in return, thanked the Lifewater Team for their excellent work and promised to always follow the basic rules of keeping safe from polluted water.

When the well was finished, there was a big celebration with much thanksgiving. The Lifewater team sent in the following report of this event: The inhabitants of Quarter 4, Government Farm, began rejoicing in high spirit with songs and dancing to receive and welcome the Lifewater teams. "Where there is life there is hope" are the exact words of one of the community elders, Mr.  John Wessieh  as the team visited his home to share and prayer with his family, as the conversation went on,  Mr. Wessieh, testified that this was his first time to sit with people to talk about issues affecting them and pray for his entire family. He said: "Though I am old now, my life has not been easy. And now the jobs for our children are no better than what we old people had. But today is a new day me and my community because your coming here brought relief to us for this whole water business since normal days water business here is not a small thing. Today you people have given us physical and spiritual water" he concluded. He was reminded that every problem they are facing is not to seek man for solution but they must turn to God through prayers and believe in Him for their solution. At the end prayer were offer and He thank God for the team and the Lifewater family. Then there was more rejoicing for the hope brought by the new well.

This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support!
