A message from the community
Yaelilay Town is deeply grateful for the repair of our communal hand pump that has been down for three weeks. We appreciate the help from Lifewater Canada. -- Community Leaders
Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)
Yaelilay Town in Montserrado County has about 500 residents, all of whom get their water from a communal well. When the well's hand-powered pump broke down three weeks ago, children and adults had to begin drinking from shallow hand-dug wells. These wells are open to the elements and therefore often contaminated -- putting people at risk of waterborne illnesses. But now, thanks to generous Lifewater donors, we have repaired the communal well and restored Yaelilay Town's source of safe water.
