Some community details (provided by our in-country partners) |
1100 People live in this community with about 450+ students attending the Victoria Williams Senior Public School. The children are having to walk a mile to obtain safe drinking water. Due to the rocky conditions in this community it was not possible to drill a well at this time, which meant the lessons learned in the Health & Hygiene Workshop were all the more imperitive to deliver. 35 participants were chosen to attend the class on May 19th 2009. The lessons reviewed dealt wtih how disease is transmitted; hand washing techniques and discussion regarding when to wash hands; Oral Rehydration Solution preparation and administration and much time spent on alternative techniques to purify their present drinking water that is not safe.
