Dabra Community Quarter #3 - Approximately 720+ people live in this community which is part of a larger community separated by Quarters. The majority of the citizens are elderly men & women. The entire area is surrounded by sand, mangroves & swampy land not good for development. There has been no safe drinking water in this area, only dilapidated open hand dug wells that are not safe for consumption. Miss Mary Richards, a resident here shared an experience during the Health & Hygiene workshop that was held on July 8, 2018 with 25 participants, she told about how her late sister fell into one of the open hand dug wells in 2015 while trying to fetch water. According to one resident, Ma Rebecca Garpue, said "this community is one of the oldest in Buchanan, yet we are living in great hardship with petty trading being the only source to make a living. Lifewater is the only organization that has come to help, praise be to God for sending Lifewater here to help us", she concluded. This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support! |
