Some community details (provided by our in-country partners) |

Quarter #3 of New Buchanan Block D, is a very large community located along the Liberia Agriculture Company Highway, near the Fred Mart Daycare School. The land is very sandy but surrounded by swamps, which makes it difficult to find any clean water for household use. The soil is not suitable for farming, therefore the locals depend on other communities for their basic needs. The Bassa people who are the original owners of the land, opened up to other people moving in to help develop the area. But like so many other towns in the area, a lack of safe water is a serious problem here. The locals rely on the plastic water bags purchased from the main Buchanan city market for drinking and cooking. This situation adds to the already existing economic burden faced by the locals. It is was a great relief for the women and children, to see the Lifewater drill team arrive in the community to provide them with safe clean drinking water. On June 2, 2018 a Health and Hygiene workshop was conducted, having 22 participants. Our team was overwhelmed with questions during the one day workshop, educating them on the importance of taking care of water sources, keeping their environment clean, and the importance of drinking only safe clean water. This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support! |
