A message from the community

Dear Lifewater & Sponsor,

We the citizens of Zardun Town, want to thank you for giving us safe drinking water, that will also stop our children from getting running stomach. We kindly ask for more hand pumps, because our population is very large, around 1,800.

Thanks to God for sending the Lifewater team to educate and provided us with safe drinking water, we promise to take good care of our new pump, said one of the old woman who spoke for the group at the end of the workshop. The woman praised the team and gave thanks to God for the sponsors of Lifewater.

May the Almighty God bless you all.

Thank you

Sampson Konway, Town Chief

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

Zardun Town was named after a creek, meaning "Help me Down" it is located along the Liberia Agriculture Company (LAC) Highway approximately 45 to 50 minutes drive from Buchanan City. The road leading to this town is very narrow and has a lot of pot holes created by the logging companies in the area. This is causing a serious problem for travel and economic activity. Fishing and Burning of coal  is how the people make a living in Zardun. The water from nearby creeks and streams were used as the main source of water. Until now this community did not have any knowledge of purifying water before using, and as a result the people have suffered with a lot of water borne diseases, and deaths.

On June 3, 2018 a Health & Hygiene Workshop was held for this community having 24 participants

This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support!
