Some community details (provided by our in-country partners) |

Dark Forest Community #5 is the central town of Dark Forest. This large community of approximately 2165 inhabitants, of whom are mostly women and children. The only source of water in this area were open hand dug wells, and nearby streams that flow through the swamp during the rainy season. Having a lack of knowledge about good healthy hygiene methods, using unsafe water and having no latrines to use, has caused a lot of sickness and death for the people in this community. The Health and Hygiene Team conducted a workshop on May 7, 2018 with 26 participants. The people were reluctant to attend because they were unsure of what they would be taught. However, they were summoned by the Chairperson who encouraged them to be a part of such an interesting lesson/workshop. After the Workshop the participants were very happy for what they had learned and thanked the Lifewater Family for showing them how to sustain the precious gift that God had given them life and water.
This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support! |
