A message from the community

Dear Lifewater & Sponsor

On behalf of the community of Dark Forest, we say a big thank you for installing a well with a hand pump giving us safe water. Our town has been dark, not only from the big tree shade, but for the lack of basic human services. That has now all changed!

May God richly bless the work of your hands in the name of Jesus Christ. We are so very grateful to you and the kindness you have shown us.

Receive all of our thanks,

Town Chief,

Dark Forest

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

On April 23, 2018 a Health & Hygiene Workshop was conducted  for the Dark Forest Communities Quarter #1,2,3,4 combined. The 25 participants observed and learned healthier practices to apply to their daily life.

Dark Forest Community quarter #4 like that of quarter three is hilly and full of mangrove swamps that are not very good for major gardening activities, so the people here produced or plant only potatoes greens for sale to the local market which is the major and the only sources of income for the women in this part of darkfroest. Some part this area the hand dug wells are salty and cannot be used for any household work. As a result, the women and children have to go distances to get clean and safe drinking water for use by their households. But Despite these life threaten conditions, the population in this area is very huge with the youth and children been the highest. This part of the community like others still faces serious lack of basic social services from center government. Health education for instance, remains an issue of concern. The Life Water health and hygiene team was greeted with a great joy for the first time to see people in the community talking about health and hygiene, the women were very happy to be a part of the workshop said the women leader who spoke and give thanks to the team and partners for coming with this very important education to them.

This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support!
