A message from the community

Dear Lifewater & Sponsor

We the dwellers of this community are very happy to extend our sincere thanks to you for constructing a second hand pump for us.  We promise to protect, clean and maintain this new well. Let God guide you and give you long life.

Respectfully yours,

Obediah D. Flomo, Community Secretary

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

Water and Sewer Community Quarter #2  is very swampy and located behind the local Water and Sewer county station and is close to the Monrovia packing market in Buchanan city. It is a very large community of 875 people comprising of mostly women and children.

The only source of water available to them was from dilapidated hand dug wells in the swamp during the dry season, but not accessible in the wet season. There is a lot of mosquitoes in this area resulting in many cases of malaria.

Bottled drinking water can be purchased locally, but it is very expensive to buy and not affordable to most of the people here having very little income to live on. They were left with no other option but to drink from the open hand dug wells in the area.

On April 16,2018 the Lifewater Health and Hygiene team conducted a workshop having 30 people participating. The participants had a remarkable experience learning healthy practices, and to pass on to the rest of the community.

Following this workshop, the community was very thankful that it was possible for the Lifewater drill team to come to this community, bringing them Life through Water.

This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support!
